"Anyone can learn to safely practice yoga and experience its healing effects. A beginner's mind is required, a flexible body is not." - Michael
Believe it or not, I once studied journalism. Language is still one of my loves. It attempts to describe reality based on a system of labels we’ve agreed on. A big lesson I learned, is that there is no such thing as objectivity. Every thought emerges from a conditioned mind. Though words have somewhat precise definitions in dictionaries, each of us has unique memories associated with words. So no two people experience words the same way, nor do they experience a sentence or any doctrine identically. Yoga is the process of deconditioning the mind. The aim could be to experience the “here and now” without conditioned thoughts getting in the way. It is to see the world with new eyes.
“If the doors of perception were cleansed every thing would appear to man as it is, infinite. For man has closed himself up, till he sees all things through narrow chinks of his cavern.“
- Aldolus Huxley, The Doors of Perception
